Short, because there isn't much to say. This site collects nothing about you. The only personal information I receive is an email address you chose to give me.
This website collects nothing. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising cookies, no forms. The erg calculator runs entirely inside your browser and anything you type into it never leaves your device. The only personal information I ever receive is an email address — and only if you choose to download the benchmark, buy a plan, or subscribe to the newsletter. I don't sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone.
Most sites open a privacy policy by listing what they take. It's shorter to list what ochsbuilt.com doesn't:
The calculator at /tools/erg-calculator/ does everything in your own browser. Splits, paces, watts and calories are computed on your device, and anything the tool remembers between visits is stored locally in that browser using standard browser storage. None of it is transmitted to me or to anyone else. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and I never had a copy to begin with.
Everything that involves your personal information happens on a third-party platform, not on this site. Each one has its own privacy policy governing what it holds.

If you give me an email address, I use it to send you the thing you asked for, to email you about a purchase you made, to send the newsletter if you subscribed, and occasionally to tell you when a plan you own has been updated — buyers of The Standard, for example, get the tabled edition free when it lands, and I need a way to tell you.
I don't send daily emails. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. If you'd rather not use the link, email me and I'll do it manually.
I do not sell, rent, trade, or share your email address with anyone for their own marketing, and I never will. The only parties that touch it are the platforms listed above, acting on my behalf to deliver what you asked for.
Some gear links earn me a commission or store credit, and each one is labeled on the page itself. Clicking one takes you to that brand's site, where they may set cookies to attribute the referral. That happens on their domain under their privacy policy, not mine — I place no tracking on you before you click, and I don't receive information about what you browse or buy there beyond an aggregate commission figure with no names attached.
Depending on where you live — the EU or UK under GDPR, California, and a growing number of US states — you may have additional legal rights over your data. I'll honor requests of this kind regardless of whether a specific law obliges me to, because at this scale it costs me nothing and it's the right way to run it. Requests go to hello@ochsbuilt.com.
I keep email addresses for as long as you're subscribed or as long as I might need to support something you bought, and transaction records for as long as tax rules require. I'm based in the United States and the platforms I use process data there, so if you're outside the US your information will be handled in the US.
The site is served over HTTPS and the platforms above handle storage under their own security programs. No system is perfectly secure, and I'm not going to claim mine is.
This site and these products are made for adults and aren't directed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given me their information, email me and I'll delete it.
If this policy changes — because I add analytics, a form, or a new platform — the effective date at the top changes with it and I'll say so on the site rather than quietly editing the page. If I ever start collecting something meaningful, subscribers get told directly.
