Training carries real risk and I'd rather be straight with you about it than bury it in a wall of capital letters. Here is what I am, what I'm not, what you're taking on, and what you can do with what you buy.

The short version

Training hard carries real risk of injury. I'm an experienced athlete and a certified coach, not a doctor — get cleared by one before you start, especially before any maximal test. My plans are general programming, not personal coaching, and I can't see your form or your history. Buy the plan for you and your household, don't redistribute it, and if it isn't what you expected, email me within 14 days and I'll refund you.

01Who you're dealing with

Ochs Built is operated by Chris Ochs from Jacksonville, Florida. It sells downloadable training plans and publishes free fitness resources. Contact for anything on this page: hello@ochsbuilt.com.

My qualifications, in full: CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, a West Point degree, graduate of U.S. Army Ranger School and Special Forces Assessment and Selection, and roughly fifteen years of competing. That is a real coaching background. It is not a medical, nursing, dietetic, physical-therapy, or any other licensed healthcare credential, and nothing here should be read as though it were.

02This is not medical advice

Everything on this site and in every plan I sell is general fitness and educational information. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it does not create a doctor–patient or any other clinical relationship. It is written for a general audience and cannot account for your history, your injuries, your medications, or anything a professional would find if they examined you.

Nothing here should be used to delay, replace, or override advice you get from a qualified healthcare provider. If a physician tells you something that contradicts a plan of mine, follow your physician.

Get cleared first

Talk to a physician before starting any program here — and do it without fail if you have cardiac history, uncontrolled blood pressure, a current or unresolved injury, are pregnant or recently postpartum, are managing a chronic condition, take medication that affects heart rate, blood pressure or blood sugar, are over 40 and returning after a long layoff, or simply haven't trained in years.

03Risk, and your assumption of it

Strength training, running, rowing, rucking, and conditioning carry an inherent risk of injury — including serious injury, and in rare cases death. That risk cannot be designed out of a training program, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

Some of what I publish carries more risk than ordinary training, and you should know which parts:

By using this site or any plan I sell, you accept that you're choosing to train and that you are responsible for your own safety, your own decisions, and your own outcomes. To the maximum extent the law allows, Ochs Built and Chris Ochs are not liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from your use of this material.

Stop if it hurts. Not "push through it." Sharp pain, chest pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, or anything that feels wrong means stop the session and get it looked at. No workout on this site is worth an injury, and no plan of mine assumes you'll ignore your own body.

04Buying a plan doesn't make me your coach

The plans are written programs, delivered as PDFs. They are not personal training, not individualized programming, and not a coaching relationship. I can't see your movement, I don't know your history, and I'm not monitoring how the block is going. If you need someone watching your squat, hire a coach in person — that's a different product and a better one for that job.

I'm happy to answer questions by email as a courtesy. Answering doesn't turn a courtesy into a professional relationship or make me responsible for your training decisions.

05Results aren't guaranteed

I'll tell you what I've seen these plans do and what I think is realistic, and I'll keep publishing my own numbers so you can judge whether I'm worth listening to. But results depend on your starting point, your training age, your sleep, your food, your stress, your consistency, and your genetics — things a plan influences and does not control.

Any number, time, or outcome mentioned anywhere on this site is an illustration or a personal result, never a promise about yours.

06What you may and may not do with the files

When you buy a plan, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it yourself and within your own household. I keep the copyright.

You may

You may not

Free resources, including the 5-Test Benchmark, follow the same rules with one exception: you're welcome and encouraged to share the unmodified PDF or a link to it with anyone.

07Refunds

Digital products are delivered instantly, so there's nothing to return. Instead: if a plan isn't what you expected, email me within 14 days of purchase and I'll refund it in full. You don't have to justify it and you can keep the file.

I'd rather refund you than have you feel taken. If something about the plan didn't land, telling me why helps me fix it — but that's a request, not a condition of the refund.

Refunds are processed through Gumroad, which handles the transaction. Depending on your bank the money typically takes a few business days to appear.

08Affiliate links and paid relationships

Some links on this site earn me something. That is disclosed on each individual row of the gear page rather than only in a policy document, because a disclosure you have to go looking for isn't really a disclosure. As of the effective date above, the paid relationships are:

BrandWhat I receive
PlatinumLED$50 store credit when someone spends $500 or more through my referral link. No cash.
AIRWAAV20% commission on purchases using code DAVID10, which gives you 10% off.
CRBN PickleballCompensated ambassador. Referral code dchrispb.

Nothing goes on the gear page that isn't already in my own training, and no brand has ever paid for placement or been given approval over what I write. When something stops earning its place it comes off the page and I'll say why. Everything else on that page is listed under a heading that says plainly I earn nothing from it.

09Links to other sites

When you follow a link away from ochsbuilt.com — to a brand, a race, a coach, or a store — you're on their site under their terms and their privacy policy. I don't control what they do and I'm not responsible for their content, their products, or how they handle your data.

10Changes, and the legal fine print

I may update these terms as the business changes. The effective date at the top will change with them, and material changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use the site or the plans after an update means you accept the current version.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
